USMLE Tutorials

• “Introduction to USMLE Study Techniques” video-tutorial with Professor Stephen Smith, Brown University, at the start of Year 2
• Weekly USMLE Tutorials are available to UQ-Ochsner MBBS students during Year 2
• 2 – 3 hours a week, classes of approximately 20 students
• Tutorial content is structured to match the Year 2 curriculum timetable
• Tutorials are run by tutors who have recently achieved good scores in USMLE Step 1
• In 2011, Year 2 students initiated peer tutorials for Year 1 UQ-Ochsner MBBS students. These tutorials are student-driven and run, allowing early adoption of USMLE study techniques and encouraging networking between the Phase 1 cohorts

USMLE Resource Library

• UQ has established a USMLE text library for UQ-Ochsner MBBS students to use in conjunction with their weekly  tutorials
• The library resources have been selected based upon recommendations by program directors and previous examinees at Ochsner Health Service
• Library resources are available at each of the tutorial locations
